Transcript for Exotic Terrane, segment 11 of 12

Today rugged mountains and deep canyons dominate the exotic terranes of the west. Once buffeted by the waves of a tropical ocean, these rocks are now being shattered by snow and ice.

Being able to, to look at rocks from the ocean floor here in the mountains impresses me with the power and the consistent dynamics of this planet, that it's something that keeps moving. It keeps working, and it's not going to stop. It's just going to keep on changing and working and moving things around.

In addition to geology, other forces of nature and people will change these exotic terranes into something new. Eventually the rocks will be eroded into a river which will take them on a journey all the way to the sea, back to where they came from.
