MediaFinder is a interface for dynamic personal media management with semantic regions. The concept of semantic regions is described as a novel approach to information indexing encompassing spatial organization and user's mental models. Users are allowed to define spatial regions in a two dimensional interface and assign semantic properties to said regions. Fling and flock methodology is described for information organization allowing users to drag (or fling) current folder contents onto the semantic regions and individual items will be assigned (or flock) to the region that best fits that item's metadata. Items can be contained in multiple semantic regions at one time. |
